Dry the tip of the fluid nozzle with a rag again.ģ) If you continue to have a leak at the fluid nozzle or needle packing nut, you repeat the steps above. Make sure that there is water in the cup of your gun, and follow the steps below.ġ) Make sure to dry the tip of the fluid nozzle with a rag, and turn the needle packing nut counter clockwise one minute.Ģ) Pull the trigger and spray. You adjust this nut one minute at a time (a 60’th of a turn). Just imagine that one full turn of the needle packing nut is an hour. IMPORTANT! You want to adjust the needle packing nut in very small increments. The adjustment should be counter clockwise when your spray gun is leaking from the nozzle, or clockwise when your spray gun is leaking from the needle packing nut. If you change to a larger or smaller needle, one of these needles could be slightly oversized and the other slightly undersized in diameter resulting in adjusting the needle packing. If the needle is too tight, paint will spurt out of the fluid nozzle when you release the trigger. If the packing is too loose, you will see a small amount of paint where the needle passes through the small needle packing nut. It should however, allow the needle to glide smoothly through it. Remember that the needle packing must be tight enough to prevent any leakage of paint material. This occurs when the Needle Packing nut is too loose. The spray gun is leaking from the Needle Packing Nut This occurs when the Needle Packing Nut is too tight, compressing the Needle Packing too tightly around the Needle. This particular issue is a simple fix and stopping such a leak is as easy as following a few steps. Over the years we have had some customers call and email us about why their spray gun is leaking from the tip of the needle, or the needle packing nut and what to do about it. Help!
